Hello! And thank you for reading The Honesty Box today. I am back from ‘Nawlins’- as the locals pronounce New Orleans – where I went to see Beyonce perform her Renaissance world tour on Wednesday night, and I have to say it was one of the best things I’ve ever done.
Nearly 70,000 people packed into the city’s Superdome stadium, and it felt like we were all at one giant party where the host - essentially a stranger to the audience – made sure we had the BEST experience. “I hope you had the time of your lives,” Bey shouted at the end of the three-hour show, and I have to say, I did.
And, I gotta be honest, it’s nearly 2am on Sunday morning as I write this, a little tipsy and jetlagged after my trip, and my birthday on Friday, so I’m going to sign off for today and write properly next week.
At the New Orleans concert on Wednesday, Bey performed a little of Proud Mary, and dedicated it to Tina Tina, who died in May just before Beyonce’s tour started. I’ll leave you with a link to Beyonce’s tribute to Tina, performed as part of The Kennedy Center Honors in 2005. Watch it here.
Yes!!!
I'm so buzzed that you did it, Lucy.
And of course you had the time of your life! Woo
Tina Turner, not Tina Tina!
