As you know, I love to dance. And this coming Sunday, 9 March, a very special party is happening in London - and you are invited!
It’s called The Loft London, and I’d say it’s one of the city’s best-kept secrets. It’s a party I love because of its musical heritage and magical spirit.
It’s a beautiful, vinyl-only party where the focus is on the dancers. There’s an amazing, audiophile stereo sound system, lots of balloons and - of course - a disco ball.
The whole thing is organised and put together by volunteers, led by the DJ Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy, who set up the London party with her friend David Mancuso in 2003.
David has been called “the most influential figure in night life history,” because his New York Loft parties - held in his Manhattan home in the 1970s - became the place where future stars of the disco and house scene went to dance and hang out. Without David, there would probably be no Larry Levan, Frankie Knuckles, Paradise Garage or Warehouse clubs, and maybe even no house music.
Music and dancing nourish my soul, and I’m lucky enough to be one of the volunteers on Sunday. If you’d like to come to the party, the ticket link is here. The price includes a delicious vegan buffet and chai, free cloakroom - and seven hours of beautiful music and dancing.
Limited tickets available - hope to see you there!
