This sounds just like me, especially for anything related to the house or life admin. I start a load of different things and nothing gets finished. I'm part self-employed and the thought of not earning money if I don't go and find the work terrifies me, so I guess that's helpful in finishing things!

I feel seen. (And I don’t have kids either.) I too am self-employed and have a terrible time getting things done. My solution so far on specific things has been to work with various coaches, etc who hold me accountable. Then I get stuff done.

Sounds good. I’m happy to have my mentor to help. And also the people who read this newsletter keep me accountable! 🙋🏼‍♀️ ❤️

It's the other way round: no kids means you have the luxury of being able to choose to just relax and do nothing whenever you feel like it! Personally, i think you can leave things undone for a day or two or a year or two :)

Kids or not we all have days and weeks like these. Unpacked boxes and cases… I see the pomodoro mentioned in a few places but not heard of it. Does it apply in many fields?

True. Pomodoro can be applied to any task, I think. You do 25 mins x 4, with 5 min breaks in between. Then a longer break and repeat. It can be more complex and you can buy a tomato-shaped timer to help, I believe.

Thank you! Had no idea. Why is it called that?

It’s pretty self-referential - it’s called that because many kitchen timers are shaped like tomatoes (pomodoro in Italian) and the person who came up with it used a kitchen timer to help.
