Thank you, Sarah! I think you are right -we don’t notice it in our friends and I’m glad to hear the anxiety lessons. Happy birthday!

With Botox and with everything else in life use the ancient Greek wisdom of "Metron ariston" i.e "Moderation is best".

. As a 65 year old (66 next week!) I feel as though the initial phase of noticing aging - around mid 40s or early 50s for a few years- is the most complicated. It's uncomfortable to start to see one's oh so familiar face actually start to shift, sag, gain visible wrinkles...Very alienating and anxiety laden in that first recognition. It's not that that goes away. And it's not that it doesn't matter and we should all just rise above it with perfect equanimity - it's the familiar you you have known all your life, starting to depart...! But it becomes less of a shock to see those first changes become permanent and to recognize how little you notice them in your friends of the same age.. Go for the botox or lasers or whatever if it feels right- but also know the anxiety may well lessen over time. (oh and BTW I am single now, and dating, so it's not like I just rest in a partners loving gaze and don't feel a need to be attractive!)
